Obsessions: Coconut Oil
Do you have that one product or that one thing that you use all the time?
I do.
My friends, I love coconut oil.
I love the fact that it's a natural product, it's safe for my daughter in case she was to ever ingest it, it smells wonderful, it tastes great when used in things, et cetera et cetera.
Here's just a taste of what I use it for:
- Moisturizer. After I wash my face, shave my legs, or even just to touch up dry skin spots. It works and smells amazing.
- Everything baby. Seriously. Everytime Ellie takes a bath I lather her up in coconut oil afterwards. It has been great for cradle cap, diaper rashes, regular rashes, and even when her legs were incredibly dry. I love that if she were to somehow get it in her mouth, it's okay! It's a natural product that doesn't contain a million unpronounceable chemicals.
- Butter replacement. Want to make a recipe healthier? Replace butter with coconut oil. Tastes amazing. It's even great on top of popcorn. No joke.
- Any oil/fat replacement really. We've used it to grease pans (instead of olive oil or butter or spray), replace butter in cookies, and sautee veggies (especially when they're going to be in a curry, the coconut oil adds a yummy new flavor to it).
- Eye makeup remover. It really does remove mascara and eyeliner. I use it every time I wear mascara.
- Scars. I'm still a work in progress on this particular subject, but I have heard that it works really well to clear up scars and such. I was blessed by my daughter with beautiful stretch marks. I heard that coconut oil can help them fade. I'll let you know if it's a success (in a few years, probably).
Do you use coconut oil for anything else? Or do you have that ONE thing you have to use?

Obsessions: Musicals
This is the beginning of a long on-going series about my various obsessions. Whatever they may be at the time.
One obsession that I have always had, and hope to keep, is that of musicals.
I'd like to think that I inherited that wonderful trait from my grandmother. She was always a huge fan of them and always sang along. She also had an amazing voice.
I think one of the reasons why I love them so much is because they tell a story. And I also grew up watching Disney movies. Those are ALL basically musicals.
A few of my all-time favorites that I will always sing at the top of my lungs are:
My Fair Lady
Wicked
I LOVE love LOVE Wicked. I can't believe it took me four years to go see it (okay, I know, because it's money), but my aunt went to see this in Seattle and bought me the soundtrack. I fell in love. It may have something to do with liking the Wizard of Oz already, but whatever. It's an amazing musical to see live.
Les Miserables
Both the original Broadway version (I only have the London Broadway version) and the movie soundtrack are my favorite. I jumped on this train only right before the movie came out. Shame on me. But, Nick was a fan of it way before the movie came out so that counts as something, right?
PS. I just might be listening to this while typing out this post...
Sound of Music
I just have a mad crush on Julie Andrews. Sidenote: her voice came on during the fireworks show in Disneyland and I swear she has the voice of dreams and happiness. I want a soundtrack of just her reading to me and giving me motivating and inspiring advice. It'd be fantastic.
Phantom of the Opera
I still have yet to see this live, but I did watch the live version that's on Netflix (GO SEE IT!). I thoroughly enjoy trying to sing along with this one and watching Gerard Butler sing as the phantom. Ahhhhhh...
Of course I could add a million more. My honorary mentions have to be: The Music Man, Wizard of Oz, Chicago, and Singing in the Rain.

Audry Hepburn is amazing. Although, I also equally adore the Broadway version with Julie Andrews (AND Rex Harrison). I love the music, the lyrics, the sassy-ness, and the humor. SUCH a great musical.

Obsessions
Linking up with Saige Wisdom today for some obsessions! She's having an Etsy giveaway right now for all those that linkup so go and linkup!
{1} DIY Projects/Ideas
I have been pinning, and keep pinning, like crazy. I love a good DIY project. Now, doing it is a whole different story. Although, I did just complete this project. Some homemade laundry detergent! I'm also working on a project a little like this right now.
{2} Microsoft Word and Excel
I have a plethora of spreadsheets and word documents. I have a spreadsheet for all the books I've been reading, my massive wedding planning, the children's books I've collected, our budget, etc. etc. As far as word documents go, well, we'll get into that craziness some other day. Ha!
{3} Cheesy, but awesome, jazz tunes.
Have I ever told you that our getaway song was an awesomely cheesy jazz tune that we like to jam out to? Yeah. I love an awesome groovy song. Sometimes jazz ones (especially smooth jazz) are really good for just head bobbin' around the house.
This was our getaway song. Oh yeah.
{4} This chalkboard.
It is adorable. I'd love to have a chalkboard of my favorite state (Washington of course)! Oh the fun we'd have with chalkboard...

{5} The Office
I have been re-watching it. It's just, so much fun. Even if you watch it over and over again, the episodes are still funny and just as great.
{6} Blogging
I have about 75843902 blogs on my Google Reader and I tend to read most of them. I spend waaay too much time reading blogs, but it's so hard not reading them. They are all so good!
