Hey Bay-bay!

Get my pop culture reference?  Ah... rap music.

Whew!  You have no idea how hard it was keeping that secret a secret for the past month.  Yes.  A MONTH!  There were so many times that I wanted to mention something about being pregnant in one of my random posts or comments to other people, but I knew that it'd be better to wait.

Plus, it makes it more fun to reveal the longer you hold it in.

I'm sure some of you are wondering about how everything is doing inside my body and I assure you, I'll be updating you all until you know more about me than I know.  Not really, but you get the idea.

I hope you understand that just because I'm having a baby doesn't make this a baby blog.  Of course, you'll all get your fill on baby bump statuses, pregnancy highs and lows, and oh-so-much more.  But, I'll still be doing things for me.  Not just for our baby.  And if I get too carried away with 309234 baby posts a week, please let me know and tell me to slow it down.  Do it for my sake and for yours before it gets bad.

Anyways, onto the oh-so-wonderful pregnancy/baby bump update.

Currently...

...I'm about 10 weeks along.  We could have waited longer to tell y'all, but it's such a hard secret to hold in.  And plus, most of our families already knew weeks ago.

...I have no morning sickness.  All of you pregnant/post-pregnant women can hate me.  I know others do.  I have been blessed with a mother who didn't have it, and luckily with this pregnancy (although it could easily change in our next pregnancy) I don't have any of that wonderful nastiness either.

You think I'm on the left, huh?  Well, I'm on the right.  Short hair and all: circa 2005.

...I DO have heartburn, fatigue, and headaches.  See?  I didn't get off too easily.  I've been pretty tired (with/without working 12 hours a day) and I have a nice little heartburn that likes to grace me with its presence every now and then.  And the headaches?  Well, they aren't frequent, but occasionally they like to let me know they're there.  This weekend I had a headache the ENTIRE TIME.   It may have been minor, but it was still a headache.  Figures I'd get them, since I had them at least once every other week pre-pregnancy.  Oh well.  Tylenol and Tums can just sleep next to me.  All day, every day.

...I eat.  All. the. time.  Or at least it feels like that.  It struck me a few weeks ago, but I snack a lot and can no longer eat "normal-sized" meals.  I have to eat at least half of what I would've usually eaten, but then I'm just hungry again an hour or so later.  Hence the need for lots of fruit/vegetable snacks around the house and granola bars.  My saviors in not gaining a million pounds.

...I feel and look fat.  Ok, I know this just seems silly, but I was never "flat-bellied" before pregnancy and now that that area is growing little by little, it makes me just feel fat.  That's mostly because people look at your stomach when you tell them you're pregnant or they ask how you're feeling lately and you don't even look pregnant.  It's such a sad thing.  Especially when your pants are slowly starting to lose their nice fit and your bra is starting to become too tight.  Sigh.  Pregnancy is beautiful.

...Nick is excited.  This may seem like a weird update, but a lot of people asked me when I told them if he was excited.  Well, I'd hope he was excited!  I wouldn't have married him if he didn't want to have children with me.  I do know why people ask and not all of them were out of line or offensive.  It just seems like a silly thing.  Maybe it's my hormones.  Whatever.  Anyways, he has resorted to a few chanting sessions with my belly.  Yup.  You read that right.  Here's what it sounded like:

Maybe not exactly, but something very similar.

...My breasts hurt.  A lot.   It's probably TMI, but that was how I knew I was pregnant and they have been extremely sore for the past month with no sign of stopping.  It wouldn't normally be too bad, but when you have a 4-year-old climbing over you all day, accidental boob squishing/elbowing happens a lot more than you want it to.

Firsts

It's the first of February (I can't even believe January went this fast).  In honor of this special occasion I've decided to grace you all with a fun little survey.  A look into most of my firsts.

Also, you should know that my iPod camera finally died.  That means my Instagram is very sad and lonely.  In case you were wondering!

First thing you do when you wake up in the morning:
When I officially wake up?  Well, usually pee and the brush my teeth.  While I'm waking up I usually hit the snooze button at least 5 times.  It's a habit that I haven't been able to break since I started in high school.  Oh well.  It just means that I get to set my alarm clock at least 30 minutes ahead of my actual wake up time.  It used to drive Nick crazy.  He's used to it now..

First thing you reach for when you open the fridge:
Usually almond milk to go in my cereal.  If I'm not having cereal then it's homemade jam for my toast or a previously made smoothie.  The good breakfast stuff!

First thing you do when you get to the gym:
Good question.   It's been awhile, but I guess I'd usually go to the locker room and put my stuff in a locker, use the bathroom, then probably start on the treadmill.  It honestly depends on what I want to accomplish when I'm there.  And plus, it's been awhile.

First thing you do when you get home from work:
Throw my purse down and kiss my husband (if he's home) or relax on the comfy chair a bit while reading a million blogs at once.  It's such a hard thing to do.

First car:
'95 Honda Accord.  What a fun car that was.  We could drive 30 minutes and the windows still wouldn't defrost.  Such scary driving there was, but it served my high school years and then some very well.

First accident:
That would be when I was four years old.  I don't think I've talked about it before and if I have, I'm sorry.  But, it was a rollover accident that happened when some jerk was speeding like crazy on the freeway (found out later he was on the run) and hit the back end of my uncle's car.  I, somehow, flew out the window when the car was rolling over and my dad and uncle were in the front.   While this whole thing happened, my mom was behind us a ways and saw it happen.  I still can't imagine what she felt.

I, obviously, survived the accident just fine and have a gnarly scar on my wrist to prove it.  It's where the glass from the car was left in my wrist and I had to get stitches.  It's still there from when I was four.

I actually forget that it's there most of the time, but it's a reminder of how amazing God truly is.  He sent a guardian angel to be with us that day.  My dad and uncle were also fine.  My uncle suffered a broken nose and my dad didn't have any major problems (as far as I know)

It's also crazy to know that when the accident happened there was an off-duty policeman, off-duty paramedic, and a few others that I can't remember at this time.  I don't remember anything from then, but an occasional memory, I think, of a lady using a washcloth to clean up my wrist.

First thing you wanted to be when you grew up:
I think a librarian.  I'm not totally sure why, but I remember really wanting to be a librarian so I could read books all the time.  It'd still be a cool job.

First choice beverage:
Water all the way!  Or a really good fresh smoothie/fruit juice.  That'd be nice.

First choice breakfast:
If I had to pick ANYTHING for breakfast, it'd definitely be eggs and hash-browns.  I don't like to eat eggs all the time, but for some reason fried eggs mixed with homemade hash-browns are extremely delicious.  That or waffles with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.  YUM!

If it's a normal work morning, then I like my good cereal.  Usually frosted mini wheats (or whatever off-brand we have).

First choice dessert:
Oh man.  This is a really hard one.  I love my TJ's pomegranite-blueberry sorbet.  But, I also enjoy a good piece of grandma's banana cream pie or homemade ice cream.   Pretty much anything sweet that isn't too rich.  That's what I'll have.

First song that comes to mind:
Rainbow Connection by Kermit the Frog.  This is because I'm currently watching the old Muppet Movie.  SO GOOD.  I forgot how awesome the Muppets are.

First major purchase:
Well, I guess that would be when I turned 16 because I paid for half of my car.  After that, it'd be college textbooks.  Hah.  Yuck.

First job:
Working in the cannery when I was 14.  Picking out the bad berries, de-clumping frozen berries, making boxes at record speeds (and having the cardboard cuts to prove it).  Fun stuff.

Frist time you flew on a plane:
The first time that I remember flying in a plane was when I was 6 and we went to Mazatlan, Mexico with my entire family.  It was awesome.  I wish I had a cute picture to show you all!
