What's in my bag?

I am long overdue for a what's in my bag post.

My purse tends to get treated like my go-to for everything bag.  I usually throw all of my essentials (even some not shown in the picture).

So, here you go...

What's in my bag?

1.  My current read.  This just happens to be The Princess Bride right now.  I HIGHLY suggest you read it if you haven't.  It's hilarious!
2.  My wallet and checkbook. Of course.
3.  Necessities.  This includes hand lotion, chapstick, bobby pins, hair ties, contact solution (definite must for contact wearers) and aspirin!
4.  Phone!  Yes, I'm not cool enough to have a smart phone.
5.  Bluetooth.  With these cell phone laws around here, you HAVE to have one!
6. Vast amounts of pens, pencils, and markers.  Never know when you're gonna need 'em!
7. iPod and headphones.  Love my new iPod!  I take it everywhere.
8.  Keys.

So, what's in your bag?

Honeymooners: Day 4 & 5

Find day 1 here and days 2 & 3 here.

Day 4:

We went on an awesome hike our third day on the island.   We hiked up a mountain ridge called Nonou Mountain.  It was FAR better than our hiking book led on.  It's about a 1.5 mile hike up to this picnic shelter.  Along the way you get amazing views of the south shore.  Up at the top you get a couple different viewpoints of the northern mountains and the south shore.  Nick, however, found a trail that led up even higher than the picnic shelter.  So we hiked about 1/2 mile more and also did some rock scrambling to the very top of Nonou mountain.  It was AWESOME!!!  We had an alomst 360 degree view from the top.

 Isn't this incredible?!

The only downside to this hike was that it was INCREDIBLY humid the whole time.  We did the hike in the morning (around 9 or 10) and we were dripping with sweat by the time we got to the top.  It was worth it, though.

My monkey husband, right before a chunk of rock gave way and hit his lip.

After that awesome adventure we went snorkeling in Poipu.  It is an awesome beach! (Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures except with our underwater camera)  The fish there all swim right under you!  It was crazy and a lot of fun.

Then we went shopping in Koloa and decided to go out to dinner.  We found this restaurant kind of on accident called Tiano's.  It was pretty good food for a decent price.  We even had a pretty awesome waitress.

Day 5:

On day 5 we decided to chill out and we spent quite a bit of our time walking around shops looking for cool souvenirs to take home.  Nick and I went to this craft fair in Kapa'a and found handmade wine bottle holders that could be personalized!  So we got a couple and had our names put on them :)

We then played in the pool a bit, BBQ'd and went to Lumaha'i again to watch the sunset.  It was awesome!  We sat on the beach for awhile and there were a ton of these little crabs.

We had some fun playing with the crabs and we chilled on the beach until the sun went down.  It was wonderful :)  We love Kauai!

Come back for part IV!

Biddle the Kitty.

I reminisced the other day and I have to share this with you.  It's too silly not to.
Ok, maybe it is a little too silly, BUT you have to know that I am a little silly.  Therefore, you shall just have to endure one "silly" post of mine.

My sophomore year of college, I received a stuffed cat as a Valentine's Day gift swap at work.  This cat was not too cute.  Just sayin'.   I don't know how it came up, but we ended up calling him Biddle.

He floated around our entire duplex.  We would hide him in weird places, place him in each others' rooms, etc.

One day we decided to do a "day in the life of" photo shoot with Biddle.

Here is, a day in the life of Biddle the kitty.  Prepare for photo overload.  I apologize.

Meet Biddle.  He's not just your average kitty.
He likes to spend hours on Youtube.  Even if it's to learn how to dance to Cotton Eyed Joe.

He is potty trained.
Even to the point that he knows how to wipe!

And flush!

He pretends he knows how to read...

...but he really needs a little help.

He enjoys the occasional horseback ride...

...and cuddling...

....even if his cuddle partner picks on him.

He loves Charlie...
...and Charlie's underwear.

He can even shower by himself!

He had to have surgery once...

...and after many intense and painful hours...

...the surgery was a success!

Biddle is now somewhere in this vast world.  Maybe he's exploring.  Maybe he's found a new home.  We can only hope for the best for our dear friend Biddle.

One.

Nick and I are volunteers for this local church community garden.

It's a wonderful opportunity and we get to pick all sorts of different goodies (all organic) for ourselves, friends, and other people/organizations in the community.

This weekend we went to check out the garden and pick some much needed veggies for the week.

Two.

My husband volunteered to be apart of a relay race through his work (REI).

The race is in three weeks and Nick is doing the kayaking portion of it.

Luckily for us, REI has some fun toys employees can rent.

This is one of them.

 Isn't she pretty?!

We spent a few hours out at Lake Samish.  My family has a little kayak (about half the size at the most) at the lake, so my husband got to take the big one out and I took the little one.

So much fun!

This is one of my favorite places to be.  On this lake.  It's so beautiful and peaceful.!

How did you get outside?

Happy Friday!

It is that time.  FRIDAY!  Here's some pretty awesome things that happened this week.

1.  My husband got a new job!  It's super exciting!  He's now a middle school jazz band teacher and part-time high school band assistant.  An awesome opportunity for him and I'm very proud :)

2.  Check out my awesome thrifty finds!  Would you believe that I got all of this for $10?!  Yeah.  Garage sales and everything half-off at a thrift store.  Beautiful.

1. Tons of crafty things!
2.  Adorable baby clothes.  Not for me!  I have a few baby boys coming and currently around.
3.  Magazine rack that will function as something...
4.  Beethoven's symphonies on records (woohoo!) and Men in Black. On VHS.
5.  Future coupon holder.  You'll see it later.

3.  I had an extra 2 days off this week.  This means that I got to get some things done around the house,  much needed things.  I also finished my new wall-art.  Check it out!  I got the inspiration from this pinterest find.

4.  We've been making a few yummy things around the house this week! Including my husband's lemon glaze zucchini bread and a zucchini/basil soup (can you tell what we had a lot of around our house?) I'll share a recipe with you soon.

5.  We discovered an awesome restaurant in Bellingham.  The Shrimp Shack.  It is so good and local!

L: Whiskey Crab Soup  R: Cod and chips.  YUM!
