A Pinteresting Christmas

Remember that time I posted this post about November Pinterest goals?

Yeah... about that...

I honestly didn't do any of those.  They were great ideas, but they just didn't happen.
I think it might be because most of those required going out and buying certain things to make them with.  I don't just have rope, wood, small big headed nails, and whatnot just lying around ALL THE TIME.

Anyways..

I wish I would've done one for Christmas because I have been cranking these Pinterest pins out like no other.

Like this one:

and this one:

I'll share 'em all later.  Promise.

I also have a couple of awesome pins in the works (really.. I do.).

Balloons + Yarn + Glue.  So easy and it'll look great!

A variation of this, but it's my inspiration.  It's so cute and hip and I already have the base for the wreath and cute yarn!

Why is Christmas time one of the best times to get super crafty?  I feel like I'm ten times more crafty in the winter.  Maybe it's 'cause we're cooped up all day and we're all in the giving mood to make crafts for everyone.  I'm sure that's my reason.  I still have too many crafts/gifts to make for people.  I even had them picked out a month ago!  Why haven't I started yet?!

Now onto some of the things that I really want to get done before Christmas.  This time it's really going to happen.

I can do these with the girls.  I think they'd love to make ornaments.  We'll probably end up painting some, stamping others, and cookie cutting some as well.

I have some of these big light bulbs.  Actually, one strand that I got from my parents in college to use as decorations.  What am I going to use with one strand of big light bulbs?  Maybe I'll take the bulbs and do this.  Do you think that'd be okay and not wasteful?

I need to make some stockings this year.  We don't have ANY in our house.  I'd also much rather not buy them.  It'd be way more meaningful anyways if I made them.  I wish I had burlap lying around the house (or have it accessibly cheap).

On the same note as stockings...

We don't have a mantel in our house.  We have a gas stove, which heats up our house, and no fireplace!  Sad, I know.  If I'm going to make stockings I should have a place to put them.  What do you think of these ideas for stocking holders?  I could whip up something like this from pieces at the re-store in town (awesome place to find used EVERYTHING dealing with housing materials - paint, wood, pipes, cabinets, etc).

Pinterest goals: November

My name is Alison and I have an addiction.

I use Pinterest...a lot.

I think I tend to use it a little too much.  I find myself pinning way too many things and then not even attempting to create 3/4 of the things that I pin.  What is wrong with me?  Sure, I go back and look and them and say to myself "I should do that!", but I hardly ever do it.

Isn't Pinterest supposed to be about inspirations and motivating yourself?

Maybe it's not really...

Anyways.  I decided to make myself a little Pinterest goals list for November.  A few pins that I think I can accomplish this month, but won't be over-stressed out with.  I also have an addiction to lists, but we won't go into that.

I've done a string art before, but I love the dark, distressed wood and the small, cute, cursive-y word.

I have the first part of this project finish.  The hardest part is finding the right leaves and finding a good place to dry them.  I have a couple drying, but I don't know which or how many I want to use.

I think I have a rope obsession right now and I seriously need these everywhere in my house.  Okay, not really, but in the bathroom?  Yes!

I know it's not Christmas yet.  Have you seen all the Christmas ads ALREADY OUT?!  Sheesh people.  Anyways, we don't have stockings and I really should make some.  Why not make cute burlap ones?  It would go well with my rope obsession, ha!

I have a ton of shells from my old room in college.  Why not do this?  Is it bad to paint shells?

I am on the hunt for cute and affordable boots.  Especially black ones.  If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

What are your crafty and cute ideas for November?

Oh, How Pinterestingly Autumnish.

It has been waaaay too difficult finding/figuring out cute fall decor while not including halloween-y things.  I'd really rather not have my house look like a haunted or cutely-haunted house.

Pinterest has been a little kind to me whilst I search for these decorations, but honestly, it hasn't done that much good.  I'm still at a loss on what I should do with cute pumpkins or even a bunch of fall leaves.

I even had to call in Google to do some decor hunting for me.  Yeah, Google.  It didn't do so well either.  It's too overwhelming to see a million pumpkins staring at me from someone's overly cute porch.  I don't even really have a porch.

I did, however, find some good ideas on Pinterest that I think I may be trying.  What do you think?

I love the twine and acorns.  I bet I could find lots of those around here.

I have plenty of candle holders from the wedding.  Maybe I'll make good use of them...

Hammering leaves to get the color.  Love it!

I really want to make a wreath this year.  I like a couple of these.

I like this one, too.  Except not in purple.  My husband will thank me later.

That's what I'm pinning.  I'm going to try and get some of these things done this week/next week and I'll hopefully have something fall festive in my house.

Do you have any good fall decor ideas?

Advice & Pinteresting

We made it back from our trip in one piece!  Hooray!
You'll get all the gruesome details soon enough (there are some good ones.  Including me getting 10 blisters on my feet alone!!)

Now, onto other things.
I need YOUR advice.
Yes, YOU!

I have been having this dilemma lately.
I don't know what to do with my pantry and spice/tea cupboard.

I've thought about it and looked at ideas online, but I just can't find a good cheap organizing idea for either of them.

My husband just made a batch of beer, so ignore the beer bottles on top :)

Bottom shelf.  That's the mess that is our tea/spices.

Well, I'd love to get your input.  Any dollar store fixes?
Budget is tight, but I need to get this organized for my sake (Nick could seriously care less.  Men...)

Here are some Pinterest ideas to get mine (and your) juices flowing.

PS.  Does anyone know how to make a border around the entire blog?  In desperate need of HTML design help!
