FVC Day 2: Worst Date Ever

First off, Google has decided to change things around.  It's like they own the internet or something. Hmph.  So if you want to follow the blog you'll have to check out the Google+ widget on the side.  They're taking away Google Friends and making you do Google+ instead.  Whatever.  But seriously, you should add me in a circle on Google+.  The end.

On to another day of the fabulous valentines challenge!  Yesterday's was fun, but today I am having fun reading everyone's bad date stories.  I don't mean that in a mean way!  As for me, I had a hard time thinking of my worst date ever.

I haven't had a really bad date.  I've had some look back and laugh moments, so I'm going to share those with you.  Nick had been dating about a year and I had this TERRIBLE sore throat/laryngitis thing.  It seriously lasted a whole month.  If you've ever had laryngitis, you'll know that when you can't talk to anybody it makes you feel incredibly lonely depressed.

Anyways, we went to Seattle for a Joshua Redman show and walked around Pike's Place.  It was so wonderful.  I seriously love Seattle.  Well, we spent the day having fun, but I couldn't talk.  At all.  It was awful.  Nick had to order dinner and lunch for me.  I couldn't say hi to people or even talk to my own, at the time, boyfriend.  That was awful.

Pretty pathetic for a worst date, but I'm pretty boring in the worst dates department.  What about you guys?

FVC Day 1: Best Date Ever

I have decided to do another linkup!  This is from a few of the same people that did the fabulous holiday blog challenge, but it's a valentine's day blog challenge.  I need a little inspiration for blogging and I think this may get my gears going a bit for awhile until I can come up with some other posts to write.  Anyways, enjoy day 1!  It's all about my best date ever!

My best date ever is definitely the day that Nick proposed to me.  I already told this story here, but I would love to tell it again.
We spent the day in Seattle and the only thing Nick told me was that I needed bring a nice cocktail dress and waterproof clothes.

I really had no idea what was in store, but I was extremely excited (what girl wouldn't be?!).  We spent the first part of the day kayaking on Lake Union around the arboretum next to UW.  It was beautiful, peaceful, very fun, and extremely cute.  I love this man.

We then spent the next few hours park hopping around the city.  We found this sweet artsy park that had cool play areas and sculptures.
My husband's a dork.  :)
After park hopping we changed into our nice cocktail outfits (sorry about not having pictures, but I was too excited and Nick was a little nervous) and headed to the Pink Door near Pike's Place Market.  It is an incredibly cool restaurant.  If you ever go to Seattle I would recommend this place.  They had a trapeze artist there at the time and the food was incredibly delicious!  Kind of funny, but we were told that it was a cocktail dress kind of restaurant and we were one of two couples wearing nice outfits.  Pretty silly, haha.

Then we went to a park where we could see the Space Needle and the cityscape at night.  It was also very beautiful.  My then boyfriend proceeded to get down on one knee and that's when he asked the question.  AH!  So wonderful!  There are a few other dates that have been just as awesome and fun, but this one takes the cake.  I got an engagement ring and a fiance out of the deal.  DUH!

Tell me about your favorite date!  I love date stories!

Fill in the Blank Friday!

This week has been a little busy!  It's been my first full week of my new job as a preschool teacher.  It's a little crazy, I'll just say that.

I've been slacking in the posting department.  Sorry, sorry, sorry!  I'll try and get some better posts when life settles down!

Continuing on...

I have decided to link up this week with Lauren for a Fill in the Blank Friday!  Woot woot!

1.   My favorite place I've ever traveled to is Hawaii.  It's just.. so... awesome!!!

2.  Europe!!!!!  is somewhere I'd love to go someday.

3.  I pass the time on a plane (or bus, or car ride or train) by   reading a book, playing crossword puzzles/other puzzles, and bugging my travel buddy with talking or other games :)

4.  My three must-haves when I travel are   a book, a good travel purse/bag, and flip flops (a DEFINITE must).

5.  My favorite travel companion is  my husband.  Yup.

6.  The craziest thing that ever happened to me while traveling is  our honeymoon flight almost turned into a crazy nightmare.  Our tickets almost didn't go through *long story*, our flight got changed 3 times while at the Seattle airport, and in the end we had to take 3 different flights to get to Kauai.

7.  The most exotic food I've ever tried while traveling is    nothing.  I don't think I've ever eaten anything crazy or really different.  The most different would be semi-raw tuna fish.  But that's not too crazy.

8.  If I could live anywhere else, I'd live in  BC (British Colombia) or Oregon.  Maybe even California.  I just like the west coast!  Or maybe even Europe!

9.  I have been to  six states in the U.S.

My travel life hasn't been too exciting, but someday this fill in the blank will look more awesome-r (yes, I made that a word.)

Top Ten Tuesday: Frugal Moving

Today I'm going to link up with Amanda for Top Ten Tuesday.  Here we go!

Since we just moved, I thought it would be a great idea to make my top ten list about moving!  Here are some tips on how to move while still being frugal.

1.  Purge things.  This really helped in our move.  If you have something that you never/hardly ever use, get rid of it!  There is no point in taking up box space for a thing you don't really need.

2.  Pack like things together.  When you unpack (and even pack), it's so nice to have like things together.  This includes all of the bedroom things in one box and all bathroom things together, etc.  When you need to find one thing it is such a hassle when you think you put it in one box, but you just can't find it.  This tip allows for a little less chaos (even though there still might be a little bit of it).

3.  Label everything.  This has been a life saver.  Label your boxes with everything.  We have been able to find certain items because we labeled the boxes with a basic idea of what was inside of it.  Near the end I was getting tired/lazy so some say "miscellaneous" and that does me no good.  BUT, if you can and have time to label things nicely, DO IT!

4.  Use an old phone book (or free one) instead of buying/collecting newspaper for breakables.  This may have been a little awkward at times, but do you know how easy it is to get free phone books?!  It's also easy to get free newspaper if you know where to go in your town.  I just ripped out the phone book and didn't worry about how many papers I was using!

5.  Use towels to pack breakables.  This helped me because I didn't have to worry about packing towels!  I figure you could use all of your pot holders and kitchen towels/washcloths for kitchen supplies and then you still have everything together!

6.  Look on craigslist or freecycle.org for people giving away free boxes/bins.  We got some really nice U-Haul and Ebay boxes for FREE because a business was unpacking and needing to get rid of boxes.  Always be on the lookout.

7.  Who do you know?  Seriously, start talking to people and see who you may know through the grapevine.  We ended up getting to use a furniture truck from my mom's friend.  This saved us SO much money!  If you know people with trucks or people that can get a hold of a big truck, offer to pay them gas/food/whatever!  We couldn't have done our move without them!

8.  Get boxes from the liquor store.  We got almost half of our moving boxes form the liquor store.  They are so nice and sturdy!  If you are able to go get them, do it!  Some of them even come with dividers.  Check it out!

This was great for packing wine, glasses, wine glasses, vases, extra wine bottles, etc.

9.   Purge!  Yes... I said it again.  If you can, do it!

10.  Grandma's trick: use paper plates or pot holders in between plates.  It really does protect them!  And it's super cheap/free!

11.  Take breaks!  I spent one day packing/cleaning for about 10 hours with around two 45 minute breaks.  I almost burned out and got frustrated with myself!  Don't let yourself get burnt out or exhausted.  Take some time to yourself or even just go for a little walk.  I put a movie at one point and packed things slowly while enjoying a nice movie.  Even that helped a little bit!

Miscellany Monday

Happy Monday!  The sun is shining today and I have to work.  Ugh!  Not fair!  My husband decided that he would just rub it in a little bit how nice it is outside.  What a butthead.

Anyways...
Miscellany Monday @
lowercase letters

I decided to do a new linkup for Monday.  It's called Miscellany Monday over at lowercase letters.  It should be fun since I just get to write random things!  Woohoo!!!

1.  I am totally going to try out cross stitching tonight.  I'm so excited! I went to Joann Fabrics and bought a few goodies.  There are some pretty awesome patterns, too.  Check out one I found on Pinterest!
Source: etsy.com via Alison on Pinterest

The Princess Bride is such a great movie!

2.  I love lace camisoles. Very, very much.  But why do they always get rips in them?!  Does anyone else get bothered by this??  I feel like I need to buy new ones all the time in order to replace my not that old old ones!  Maybe I pull them down too much.  Eh, oh well.

3.  Wii Fit is a lot of fun!  Does anyone else think so?  If you do it right, those workouts can be pretty intense!

4.  Just an 101 in 1001 update.  #72: Go huttubbing, is a success.  Last weekend we spent a night soaking in my grandparent's hot tub.  Sooo nice!  Also, #93: Brew some good mead, is also a great success.  Not to brag, but my husband made some awesome mead.  I'll make a post about it soon, but they are pretty dang good and have lots of character! I sound so classy saying that, ha!

Hey! You!  We should swap some buttons.

I have decided to change my blog love page into a button swapping page.  Let's swap!  I love making new blog friends and yes, I admit it, new readers!  What better way to do this than to swap buttons?!  Right....?

If you want to swap buttons with me just grab one of mine and let me know via e-mail: twosokools@gmail.com  or comment.  Just let me know who you are so I know who I'm swapping with!

Oh, How Pinteresting Wednesday #2

We are snowed in again today!  I checked the weather just now and it says that it's 10° F, but feels like -10°F!!!!  SO COLD!  What makes it cold is the wind from the Northeast.  We are having gusts up to 37mph.

Anyways, so we're stuck at home *again* and I'm going to linkup with Michelle today for...

This card is really cute.  I want to make it!

This card is also super adorable.  It would be a great "Get Well Soon" card.

What an awesome idea for sandals!

Snow!

Look at what we woke up to this morning.

So beautiful :)

A little recap

I have been a little busy lately and have only posted linkups or random posts, but nothing really worth reading.  Or so I think

This past weekend was spent moving and packing/unpacking.  I can't believe how fast it all went.  We had my parents and a few friends come over with two trucks and a furniture truck.  We packed it all in 1 hour.  ONE HOUR!  It all happened so fast!  We then drove over the mountain pass and unpacked the trucks in about 30 minutes.  I came to my grandparent's (where we're staying currently) and just wanted to stop for a second and rest.  We soaked in the hot tub and it was so amazing.

Over the night we got about 3 inches of snow and the roads were awful!  I drove to my meeting, however (which is about 20 minutes away), to find out that it was cancelled!  Why didn't anyone call me?!  So frustrating!  I had to drive all the back, in the nasty snow/ice, and hang out at home.

We're supposed to get around 5-15 inches between now and Thursday morning.  Crazy!

On a brighter note, some friends made a huge 9 1/2 ft. snowman!

Isn't he cute?!  I love his smirk :)
That was a lot of fun.  Then we played Disney/Pixar Monopoly for about 5 hours.  What a great way to finish a not so great day.  I'm hoping we can go sledding/play in the snow soon.  My new work hours don't permit a lot of fun free-time, week-day fun.  I work from 9:30 - 6:30.  What kind of hours are those?!  I would much rather work earlier than later.  Hmph.

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed that wonderful story/recap/mini-rant.  I'm a little bummed my linkup didn't get anybody.  That's okay though, right?  It's new and I'm new.  Someday it will all workout.

Before I go...

You must  check this out.  Randee's Organized Chaos is hosting this linky party where you submit your blog address and a fellow blogger will critique it anonymously!  This is so great!  I hope you link up.  This is an awesome opportunity! I think it is :)

Get Outside Monday #2

Let's try week 2 of my Get Outside Monday linkup.  I really hope you'll spread the word and share with us some ways you get outside.

All you have to do is write about how you get/got outside.  It could be about a hike, camping trip, a run you took, or even just walking to the store.  You can also write about a plan you have for outside.  You get the idea...

Grab a button and linkup with me!

Life of Two SoKools

We are all moved and currently staying at my grandparent's for a little bit.  It is such a beautiful house!  I am incredibly thankful for such a wonderful family!

It snowed a little bit the last 2 days and so Nick and I decided to take a little walk yesterday because the sun was out and it was nice out!

You'll have to ignore the bad quality of the photos, but I forgot my camera and so they are from my phone.  We took Toby for a walk and did a little loop around a few blocks or so.  It was nice to get out and enjoy the sun!

  Here they are, walking!

It was very nice out.  I wish we could have done a little more walking around town, but we had a little too much to do today.  Next time!

How did you get outside?

I was tagged!

I was tagged in this fun thing going around the blog world!  A thank you to Ashlee at On The Front Porch for tagging me.  You should go check out her blog, too!

Anyways, I'll let you know the rules and get right into it.

...The rules...
(one)  you must post the rules.
(two)  post eleven fun facts about yourself on the blog post.
(three)  answer the questions the tagger set for you in their post, and then create eleven new questions to ask the people you've tagged.
(four)  tag eleven people and link them on your post
(five)  let them know you've tagged them!

...Eleven facts...
1.  I've lived in Washington state all my life.

2.  I listened to an awesome Pandora station today.  It had N*SYNC, TLC, and some Spice Girls.  So guilty!

3.  I can not wait until we can have our own dog!!  I want a fur-baby!

4.  I think soccer is a very sexy sport.  Don't you agree?

5.  My husband is a beer snob.  And I don't even like beer!

6.  I packed all of our instruments.  We have over 13!!  Jeez, what nerds we are :)

7.  My husband is a much better cook than me.

8.  I went to college to be a music educator, but switched to elementary education halfway through.  Sometimes I wish I would've stuck with music ed.

9.  I am so ready for a place of our own that I can paint and decorate the way I want.

10.  Kung fu movies are so much fun to watch!  Recently, we watched Ip Man and Shaolin.  So good!

11.  I used to hate beards on men.  But, after I started dating my husband, I realized they aren't so bad, hah!

My boots look a lot like these
...Questions from Ashlee...
1.  What is your most embarrassing moment?
Well, recently I tried to get out of the car with my seat belt still on.  Has that happened to anyone else?

2.  Favorite thing in your closet?
My new gently used boots and my cute sparkly tank top!

3.  Favorite blog post?
I can't pick one! But, Kate at Centsational Girl posted an awesome post today about 50 things to write when you have writer's block.  It's so great and you HAVE to check it out!  I don't have one that I've written, but you can be the judge of that!

4.  If you could pick any car to have, what would it be?
Oh man.  I so want a Subaru!  A nice Outback or Forester would be great.  Then we could go off road and it would be so awesome.  *sigh*  Anyone want to get one for me? Pretty please?

5.  One store that you can't go a week without shopping at?
The grocery store.  I love fresh veggies!  I would also have to say second hand stores.  I don't go every week, but I love going whenever I can!  So many treasures!

6.  What is your favorite kitchen tool?
Our garlic press and food processor.  I love garlic and the food processor is just... so great.

9.  What is your current magazine of choice?
We don't get magazines right now, but I would love to get Backpacker's magazine or Frugal Living.
