Cheer up Friday

These stupid hormones drive me (and I'm sure Nick) crazy.  I blow up sometimes, get super giddy other times, and just plain ball my eyes out another time.  It's wearing me out!

In honor of me not being in the best of moods, I think I could use a little pick me up this Friday.  What say you?

Let's look at a few happy things.

1.  These Lord of the Rings secret diaries.  I found them in high school when I, yes, had a LOTR fan website.  Oh, it was nerdy to the EXTREME.  We're talking clips, cast, extras, buttons, graphics, you name it.  I even had a killer website design that I made that I still wish I had the code to.  It took me at least a month to create and was my greatest HTML accomplishment.  Anyways, if you have never heard of these diaries and you like LOTR, you should probably really check them out.  They are hilarious and sometimes a little inappropriate, but it's still hilarious.

2.  This Jimmy Fallon and John Krasinski lip sync battle.  It is amazing, fantastic, and hilarious.

3.  Buzzfeed.  Especially this one about awesome teachers, this childhood flashback one, and this one to make you feel old.

4.  Grumpy Cat is getting a movie deal.  Did you hear about this?  Apparently it's true.  I have no idea what to think about this, but it does make me giggle.

5.  The fact that it's Friday, and we're going to the east side (of the state) for a wedding, and the weather is supposed to be in the upper 70s!  THANK YOU!

6.  Joseph Gordon-Levitt.  He's just a cutie and makes great movies.  Even Nick will agree with this.

7.  MY NEW BODY PILLOW!  It is amazing and I had no idea how much it would help me sleep.  If you are ever pregnant and have trouble sleeping, try putting a pillow under your belly or a body pillow under your belly and between your legs.  It's so comfortable!  Unless you have a sleeping partner who is willing to be your body pillow.  Nick is not.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Life Lessons: Communication

I don't profess to be a master of marriage or relationships or anything like that.  I'm only 25, have been married for almost 2 years, and am still learning how to live happily with my husband (compromises and all).

On that note, I do know a few things that can make or break a relationship. Maybe not break, but could seriously damage.

One such thing is communication.

See, I grew up in a family where communication wasn't our strong suit (it's still an ongoing process).  Nick, however, grew up in a family that was very communicative.  Can you see how our first fight came about?  Well, if you can't, it ended up with me not being able to really tell Nick what was going on in my heart/head and him just wanting to know what I was feeling/thinking.

Eventually, after my womanly emotions frustration died down, I was able to talk to Nick.  I'm sure our fight was about something stupid.  They happen, so what?  But we, okay mostly me, have become much better communicators and we know how important it is to get things out right away before they blow up.

Because they can, and will, blow up.

I've seen this happen.  I've been part of this communication catastrophe.

So many people will agree and say: "oh yes, communication is SO important in a relationship", but why don't they ever practice it?

If you can't tell the person who you are with that there is something wrong, then why are you there with that person?  If you can't trust the person to understand what your feelings are, then maybe there is something wrong.   And most importantly, if you can't have a serious conversation with the person without either you or him/her getting completely frustrated and in turn pushing the important conversation aside, then you both need to re-evalute yourselves.

There's no cure to poor communication, but one thing you can do is to just TRY it.  Talk to the other person about how difficult it is to communicate (either for you or for them).  People need to communicate.  That's why God invented vocal chords, hand gestures, sign language, etc.

Don't take this rant the hard way.  I just needed to get it out.  I'm a terrible communicator and I'm STILL trying to learn how to share my feelings with Nick and other people in my life.  It's not easy if you aren't used to it already, but the end result is so worth it.  In the end you'll have a sense of trust and respect with the other person.

Just try it.

The end.

Baby, baby, baby, ooohhh

Seriously.  Blogging takes too much time.  I still have no idea how I'm going to juggle this hobby when baby Ellie comes.  I'm having a hard time right now just juggling Ah, I'm sure I'll figure it out.  I could also just dump a buttload of adorable baby pictures, that differ very slightly, every day and call it blogging.  Hahaha, just kidding.

How far along?:  26 weeks.

Baby:  Baby girl Ellie.  She's averaging about 2 pounds right now, and apparently will double each month.  AH!  How does this happen?

Symptoms:  Heartburn.  At least a couple times a day.  I'm really trying to not have to get the 24 hour relief drugs, but my Tums supply depletes so fast!  Back pain has also come and gone quite a bit.  There will be moments when I'm incredibly sore in certain spots, but it usually goes away after awhile.  I need to get on the prenatal yoga workout train.

Food:  Still nothing in the craving or aversion departments.  Most of the time when I see something I want, I just grab it.  So there hasn't been much room for massive/weird cravings.

Belly/body:  My body is getting bigger.  Less and less of my pre-pregnancy clothes fit.  It's so sad!  But at least I'm building up a nice maternity wardrobe for all future babies!

Baby Moments:  She kicks too much.  Holy cow.  I've had a few rib kicks (terrible, terrible things) and she likes to kick me all day and all night.  It has been fun noticing how she notices things more.  Her ears are fully developed so she will kick a lot when loud music is on (especially at daddy's concerts).  Speaking of daddy, he gave her her first music theory lesson on Lydian scales and she actually responded with multiple kicks in the face.  I can't wait to meet her!

Excitements:  I finally found a swimsuit!!  It was only $40 for the whole thing, on sale, AND it was from Motherhood.  Woot!  I'm pretty excited and need to find a reason to go swimming or something.

Racerback Maternity Swim Top
It's MUCH cuter in person and it has a racer back.  Super comfy!

To-dos:  I need to start planning some freezer meals for when she comes.  We're moving out into my grandparent's house (we are planning on saving up so we can hopefully put a down payment on a house) so I'm sure we'll have meals figured out by eating together, but I know I'll get hungry during our midnight feedings and I don't want to make Nick make all the food because I'm sure he'll be helping out as well.  I'm thinking some breakfast burritos, a few crockpot meals, and bags of smoothie stuff so I can just throw it in the blender.  Any other suggestions?

Other things:  The Pregnant Chicken is my absolute FAVORITE pregnancy blog.  It is hilarious, witty, interesting, and still incredibly helpful/insightful.  If you want to learn more about pregnancy, just browse their site.

Friday's funnies

There is nothing better than some funnies to put you in a better mood.

Also, you should probably know that all of these are from my computer.  I went through a phase (before Pinterest) where I would save all of the really funny pictures I found online.  This is just a very, very, very small handful of said pictures.

EDIT: Apparently only two showed up the first time.  I fixed it.  Stupid computer, internet, and blogger.

I love all of these movies.  Yes.

Have a great weekend everybody!
